I love tea and see through cups and fair isle knitting, oh dah do dah dayyyy!
This week it’s all about finishing up projects that I’ve left in the UFO status for way too long. These cute socks are an example of that! I cast these on in APRIL!
I stalled out because in order to finish them I had to undo 1 bind off and re-do it stretchy style. This plus not having done an afterthought heel before left me paralyzed state so to say. I left them so close to completion for months.
Well this week I decided enough is enough. I guess I am doing some ‘fall cleaning’. Either way I hauled these out to get er done. And you know what? It wasn’t that bad.
The yarn is knit picks felici in minty.. This is my go-to purse sock yarn because I can knit a cool stripe in totally plain colors and they will still look fun! I still have firefighter and hummingbird to knit, and I have a set of tyrian purple socks just waiting to have the ends sewn in later tonight!
These socks were knit by casting on 20 stitches for the toe, doing the standard increases, and doing an afterthought heel. I like how they turned out but I want to try a different style of afterthought heel next! i tagged them as a certain pattern on ravelry for ease, but I really just followed my go-to basic toe up sock pattern that’s in my head now.
I love them and wore them this a.m., but had to take them off as it’s gone up QUITE a lot to a pleasant 31 Celsius today. Now I’ll wave goodbye for now with my latest nails, done today based on this tutorial.
It’s been a while since I’ve linked up anywhere, but i am happy to join in on yarn along today. Reading and Knitting are my two favourite hobbies so I love it when they go hand in hand. This summer I put down the needles in exchange for a book a lot of the time, in fact. Less likely to get hot hands with a book.
I’m knitting the offset wraplan baby cardi for one of our best friends bun in the oven. I certainly hope it’s a boy, because these felici colours (sunny day) are turning out a lot less unisex than I was hoping for. What do you think? Pretty boyish right? I may just have to knit an alternate option in Boutique and pass this along to my OTHER friend who just gave birth to a baby boy yesterday. Hmm.
I’m reading shine shine shine by Lydia Netzer. As you can see I’m about 32% into it. Still not sure exactly what the storyline is, but i am enjoying it so far 🙂 I’ll let you know more once I’m further along. In the meantime, you can check it out on amazon if you feel like it.
Hey my lovelies 🙂 Guess what! I have a pretty FO for you! The above photo is to show how I wear it. It can also be worn beanie style but that is not flattering on me, AT ALL (trust me…i don’t even want to share THOSE photos.) Please forgive the processing but i took that photo no makeup at 7:30 am…it was neccessary 😉
I guess I knit this for the ravellenics, although I didn’t enter it or anything. I did cast on and off while watching the olympics though! I think I did anyways 😛 Synchronized swimming, track, and gymnastics REPRESENT! haha.
This is my first Woolly Wormhead (Rubbish Mojitos) pattern and I am hooked! I mean, how cute is this? I’m in love with my spiral hat 🙂 It’s knit out of Tanis Fiber Arts too so of course it looks gorgeous. It’s some of the nicest yarn I’ve used. I love that Tanis is from Montreal too! I like supporting local(ish) businesses when I can.
This was a pretty easy knit and it turned out lovely, so I would definitely recommend it! Now i need to make something matching with all the leftover yarn I have 🙂
So this summer I guess I decided to take a bit of a break from blogging, huh? Last post was may 31….wow. In that time I didn’t get much knitting done, but with summer winding down I am back in full force. I have missed reading the blogs of all of the lovely knitters out there and am glad to be back. To those of you who reached out to me, thank you! Can’t wait to get back into the swing of things. I actually even have an FO to post for you guys sometime soon! Just wanted to quickly write something to get myself back in that headspace.
You will be seeing more of me! ❤
Today, walking to the post office, I TOTALLY thought I knew what I was picking up. It was blue yarn for my next pullover project. But when I saw the size of the package the mail lady pulled out, I knew I had been mistaken.
I had to know right away so i opened it up in the parking lot! At first I was REALLY confused.
Once i read the note it all made sense. This is what snapdragoncrafts sent me as the pay it forward gift! It gave me goose bumps looking at it all day, I can’t wait to make my stuff too 🙂
I’ll have to ask her what she made this cloth out of because it is sooooo soft. I’m using it as a face cloth 🙂
She also sent me this with the pattern too. I had my eye on this pattern!! I haven’t been posting but I’ve been on a total dishcloth kick lately.
she also included a kit for making homemade cards…which will be perfect for me!
Thanks so much emily!
I have had a very active day today! I did a nice run in the fresh spring air (it’s going to rain so it smelt so good!) and then 45 minutes of yoga. I feel gooood. Later I am going hunting for fiddleheads in the forest with a friend and I’m hoping we might take a couple photos of the honey cowl for my FO Friday later.
In the meantime, I wanted to post this move that feels AMAZING on my shoulders and I think it’s because I use my hands so much knitting! It will feel SUPER good, i promise!
Just put your arms in front of you and put the right one over the left, and then entwine the forearms and clasp your palms together, pulling your arms forward slightly. It feels amazing! Do both sides. Give your back and shoulders a treat!
[ps. major progress is being made on something silver!]
