I decided I had to participate in yarn along today because I am fully obsessed with the book I am reading. I’m reading 1Q84.
THIS BOOK IS CRAZY! I’m only 29% in and I want to read what other people are thinking about it so badly but I don’t want any spoilers in reading reviews! It’s actually published as 1 book although the original japanese version was 3 books. So it’s pretty darn long! I just finished the first book. One thing I wish my kobovox did was tell me what page I am on. Not just what page of the chapter but of the whole book. That’s my only complaint though!
Anyways I won’t do into too much details but this book is an ode to George Orwell’s 1984, which I also adored. It follows 2 characters (at least where I am so far) who seem very different. Ah, I don’t even want to say anything, because nothing should be spoiled! If your curious check it out here.
(yes i took these photos yesterday…I had no idea if i was working and I wanted to be prepared 🙂 )
Okay onto what I am knitting. that is also important!
I’m working on the Honey cowl and ADORING it. I was hesitant to start this project for SO long because I knew it would be large rounds and I was worried it would take forever. Little did I know it’s going really quickly in reality. I think it’s the yarn.
(now that’s a fresh photo!)
The yarn i am using is Art-by-Ana Dreaming DK in Splash. This is a merino cashmere nylon blend of beauty! Ana is an amazing dyer local to me and I love using her yarn so much! I think this will be my first FO from her yarn though actually. She has an etsy store but she sells the majority of her yarn locally. I actually have a skein waiting for me to grab it right now!
This project is using 2 skeins, which I alternate every 2 rows. One is slightly lighter than the other so I felt it necessary. I wanted bits of lighter teal all over the place on this one. I just love the way it looks!!
It’s so luscious. I can’t wait to wear it! I wish it was slightly more portable, but that’s not stopping me from bringing it on the bus with me. Definitely not. I need to have it at work to knit on my break! I work fun shifts like 2 – 10 pm with no one else but me in the office 🙂
(in the skein)
I started my day off today with my first ever salad eaten for breakfast. Yeah I dunno I never do that but today I really wanted this salad. It’s avocado, mango, walnuts, and an olive oil/ lemon / walnut / s + p dressing. Super simple and quite good! I used less oil and it was still too much! I think I should have had more spinach but oh well. It filled me up for a long time. It’s the Mango and Walnut Salad from GreenKitchenStories.
I also continued knitting the Lapis as a good girl should. Although there’s just one thing…
I’m really running out of yarn! Good thing another cone is in the mail on it’s way here. Bad thing, it’s date for arrival is the deadline of this test knit! And oh my, guess what! I just checked the tracking online and it says they tried to deliver it to me today! Sweeeet. So glad I ordered it right when I did. This is the bonus of ordering from a canadian website, and actually why I went with elann in the first place!
I also got this in the mail today, which makes me very happy. The ipod case is adorable (owl!) and I love all of the buttons. I don’t have anything specific planned for even one of these buttons…but I don’t care. I wanted them. and I will find uses! These are from heydayhandmade
If you have any ideas of what patterns ANY of these would look good with…let me know!
i love getting packages in the mail. LOVE.
This is why I have an addiction to etsy. Before I got back into knitting it was clothes… I NEED to have stuff coming to me in the mail! Otherwise why even check it? gosh. I just hate going to the box and thinking “hmm…what do i have coming? Nothing? AWWWWWWWWWW!” so I try to avoid that.
So of course I was VERY pleased when I saw there was a package in my box today! i like that the mailboxes in my apartment building are large enough that small flexible packages get delivered straight to there.
I got…more self striping sock yarn! From Fireweed Yarns. Because you can never have enough. I want to wind this up into a cake soooo badly but I am trying to restrain myself. These are going to be plain old stockinette stripey socks.
Oh my gosh, i suck! I left this post, and coming back two hours later, I have this to report:
Uuuhh yeah I couldnt resist! And then…
I love my larch but my eyes get color bored. This is fixing that. I’m going to try not to work on them TOO much but already the stripeyness is addictive. Completely and totally addictive. Yikes! better go start a new project page.
