3KCBWDAY6–Skilllllls!

Wow guys! Can you believe it? We are seriously on day six of knitting and crochet blog week and I’ve managed to post every single day. I definitely feel like I’ve accomplished something so far, but let’s bring it HOME and do all 7 days!

Before I get started I do have to just say thank you for all of the positive feedback I have gotten over the past week. You guys make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Really!!

Anyways, Today’s topic is:How far down the road to learning your craft do you believe yourself to be? Are you comfortable with what you know or are you always striving to learn new skills and add to your knowledge base? Take a look at a few knitting or crochet books and have a look at some of the skills mentioned in the patterns. Can you start your amigurumi pieces with a magic circle, have you ever tried double knitting, how’s your intarsia? If you are feeling brave, make a list of some of the skills which you have not yet tried but would like to have a go at, and perhaps even set yourself a deadline of when you’d like to have tried them by.”

I consider myself to be pretty adept. I’ve been knitting since I was 13 with only a brief hiatus in that time. I mean, I can knit and not look and read at the same time so I’d say i have some skillz.

That said though, there is still tons I want to learn! I’ve already done a lot of new things since picking the needles back up in october, like:
– fair isle
– magic loop
– how to knit a sock (and how to do toe up)
– judys magic cast on
– the challenges associated with knitting a sweater
– how to knit small toys
– crochet borders

But that certainly does not cover everything there is to know!! Some new things I’m interested in:

– lace shawl
– intarsia
– steeking
– knitting with 2 circulars
– better crochet skills
– designing stuff
– more cabling practice!!!
– improve at embroidering things onto my knitting
– needle felting?

Hmm…Can’t think of anything else! I also need to learn how to control my yarn buying impulses 😉

What is on your “to-learn list” ? I’m very intrigued! What else do I need to add to my list?
