This week I am working on a few things. My moms xmas socks for one, but those won’t be on here again until they are DONE! I’m hoping to finish them this week, yet all I’ve knit today is hexipuffs! They are SO addictive…and I got something in the mail last night! More about that later though.
My other WIP is the ‘whistler beanie’ from sublime yarns pattern line. I haven’t located the pattern on ravelry so I can’t link to it, sorry! Here is what I have done so far though:
I have to knit this to be 9 inches, it’s about 3? And I’m almost done the first ball of sublime cashmere merino silk DK in cream. I am going to need to buy another one, I only have 1 left! I’m a bit disappointed that the pattern only called for 2 balls, as it is QUITE the trip out to the LYS. This project hasn’t been getting much love lately though. The socks are taking up all my Dexter knitting time!
I think I’m going to save my haul of minis for the next post but just look:
The first puff I knit up out of the skeins! I did this this morning 🙂 I loooove the way the yarn striped up. I am so absolutely in love with the beekeepers quilt project. I love watching a hexipuff turn up in palms as if it was nothing! MAGIC!
Eeeee! I can’t wait to get more colors going on in here but…SQUEE! I love it love it LOVE IT. Must work on other WIPS! Puffs are supposed to be travel knitting. Gotta remind myself of that 😉 It counts for WIP Wednesday because the quilt is a WIP 😉
Go check out the other WIPS at tami amis!
I’m excited because this is my first time participating 🙂 I DO have a FO for today…in fact 2 FO’s. I’m a little late…I hope its ok! I wrote this last night and never got to post it! eeks.
2 little hexiFO’s 🙂
I knit the pink and blue stripe one today on my way to the LYS. I knit the other one after I came back with my goodies 🙂 I just couldn’t wait to see how it would knit up.
I recently ordered some mini skeins online but they haven’t arrived yet and I was getting anxious. I was on ravelry that one of my LYS’s (my preferred one – the staff are young and suuuupppper friendly) was stocking mini skeins by their kind of ‘house’ hand dyer? Art by ana!
This was purchased at knit knackers. the 4 mini skeins for $15 dollars and the cake of sock yarn for $24. The notions bag was free! And absolutely PERFECT for toting around my hexipuffies 🙂 The yarn is so soft, I am totally in love. I realllllly want to knit myself socks from whatever skeins these minis come from! The semi solids are gorgeous.
This is my little hexi kit. Needles, yarn, safety pins, and some nail clippers to cute the yarn when i finish one 🙂
I actually finished 3 hexis and the heel on my moms christmas socks yesterday! go me!
My goals today:
Do not go out in this first snow other than to mail a special someone’s package!
Knit on my moms socks.
don’t freak out about running out of yarn for your whistler beanie.
Clean a lot of stuff.
Do a happy dance. You just ordered yarn for GNOME MITTENS AND YOUR FIRST SWEATER!!! YEAAAAAH BAYBAY.
Do not go to the yarn store. Do not go to the yarn store. REPEAT.
Check out this bad boy. mom’s #1 sock.
Now to make them match 😉 one month and 2 days till christmas!!!
Hopefully I finish them before the yarn gets here for these. It’s going to be really hard to not knit them. REALLY hard. I am in love with these gnomes. I might even marry one.
Yesterday I went to one of my LYS’s, wool-tyme. I had a few things in mind that I needed. I happened to have some MAJOR mishaps though.
I bought 2 sets of wrong length circulars
I LOST a skein of yarn on my way home
Chris didn’t even like the yarn I bought to make a hat for him.
I made it home with:
2 skeins of sublime DK cashmere merino silk blend yarn in white/creme, and 1 in a purpley color (The second purple fell out of my bag on the way home! 😦 )
1 80 cm US 7 circ and 1 US 8
1 set GOOD bamboo needles in size 4 for my beekeepers quilt 🙂
1 more skein of arequipa on sale for said quilt
1 pattern booklet to make a hat from this purple yarn from
TEENY TINY MOCHI MOCHI by anna hrachovec
I knit this littttle puffy 🙂
Hope my next trip is less disastrous! I am ok with chris thinking the creme is too ‘femme’ for him….it’s mine now! Muahaha. Cashmere Merino Silk is my new best friend FOREVER.
Did I mention it takes me 49 minutes just to get to this place by bus? GEESH. I went specifically for the sublime though. Mmmm. Sublime.
Hello there. Before I begin I think I should say a little about myself. I am a 20 year old girl living in Ottawa, Canada. I have been knitting since I was about 13 and consider myself ‘adventurous’ when it comes down to it. I love to try new techniques and I actually taught myself how to knit so I’m not afraid to search for the answers. I love to create and always am either cooking, writing, knitting, sewing, painting, or doing some other sort of creative hobby. I took about a year off of knitting and just recently came back to it. I will post about some of my recent creations later on. I am writing this blog to share my creative side! I also love photography so it is the perfect fit.
You can find me on ravelry here.
To start this off I am just going to show you what I worked on today. Today is my weekend so I knit this surprise blanket square up…
The true color is somewhere between the two photos. This is Cascade 220 superwash.
I’m also knitting edwardian boating socks for my mom for christmas. I am knitting them in misti alpaca which is SO incredibly soft. This is my second pair of socks ever…to me they look like art. I can’t believe my hands are making them.
Finally, I made my first hexipuff for the bee keepers quilt. I also bought 18? mini skeins of sock yarn in pink and wintery colors. Hehe. Oops.
This one is knit in arequipa on size 4 bamboo needles. I purchased 150 safety pins for 5 bucks so I can sew in all the ends after I puff them up. I live in a small apartment and I don’t want to purchase stuffing until I am going to use it. I plan to cut pieces of quilting stuffing for only slightly puffed up hexapuffs. I will keep you updated!
